Our Journey to Sustainability
At JMZ Farms, we’re all about taking care of our chickens, our land, and our planet. When I started this farm, I knew I wanted to do more than just raise chickens and collect eggs. I wanted to do it in a way that helps the Earth stay healthy for future generations – that’s you and me!
So, what does that mean? Well, we’ve been working hard to make sure everything we do is as green as possible. From the way we treat our chickens to how we package our eggs, we’re always thinking about what’s best for the environment.
Happy Chickens, Happy Earth
One of the things I’m most proud of is how our chickens live. Our chickens are pasture-raised, which means they spend their days roaming freely on green pastures, pecking at bugs, and eating fresh grass. This isn’t just great for the chickens – it’s also great for the land! Their natural behavior helps keep our soil healthy and rich, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.
Plus, by letting our chickens live the way nature intended, we’re helping to reduce our farm’s carbon footprint. A happy chicken is a healthy chicken, and a healthy chicken lays the best eggs!
Reusable Egg Trays: Bye-Bye, Single-Use Cartons!
Now, let’s talk about packaging. You know those egg cartons you see at the store? They might be convenient, but they’re not the best for our planet. That’s why, starting at the beginning of 2025, JMZ Farms is going green with reusable egg trays! 🎉
These plastic 30-count trays are not only sturdy and reliable, but they also cut down on waste. Instead of tossing out those cardboard or foam cartons every time you finish your eggs, you can reuse our trays again and again. When you receive your new order of eggs, simply exchange the tray you have, and I’ll take it back to wash, sanitize, and prepare it for reuse in another order. It’s a simple change, but it makes a big difference.
We’re super excited about this step, and we hope you’ll be too! For those of you who prefer a different storage option, we’ll also be offering egg storage containers for your refrigerator on our JMZ Farms website once the eggs are received.
